As I approach my 30th anniversary of being a health care provider, I often look back on the variety of professionals I’ve been fortunate enough to work with over the years. There is one group of colleagues that often stands out as my best advisors and mentors: nurses.

When you realize the innumerable scenarios where nurses are present in the health care industry, especially within community health, you understand how truly special they are. From direct patient care to research, administration, policy, leadership and more, nurses are constantly visible, providing unparalleled knowledge and talent. The level of commitment and genuine compassion they display combined with the structure and discipline they provide to each patient is truly inspiring.

At ACCESS, we are fortunate to have more 140 nurses in our workforce. From having a seasoned nurse administrator as our Chief Executive Officer to all the nurses that help lead our care teams and provide their expertise on the administrative side to ensure that we continue to live our mission, our nurse workforce are our best allies. As we celebrate National Nurse Appreciation Week, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all my nurse colleagues across our integrated health system. Regardless of your role, your dedication, ethics and expertise are impacting the health and wellness of the more than 175,000 patients ACCESS proudly serves each day.
