Dr. Zia Okocha received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota/North Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is credentialed by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Society of Family Planning (SFP). Dr. Okocha believes everyone deserves access to quality healthcare regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. Her goal is to meet people where they are at and encourage positive change wherever possible. She believes the consideration of factors beyond a patient’s medical chart is crucial in forming relationships with her patients and creating a treatment plan that works. Some of her areas of interest within medicine include reproductive health like pregnancy, sexual health and contraception management; LGBT care; care for immigrants and refugees; substance use and abuse; and wellness. Outside of work, Dr. Okocha enjoys music (especially Jazz, Blues and R&B), reading, sports, and learning about other languages and cultures.
